Be a Savvy Water Conservation “Plumber” in Your Indianapolis Area Home

At AttaBoy Plumbing we understand that we all have a responsibility to conserve water as we can. Here are some water saving tips that you may want to consider in your own home.

To prevent excessive watering of your lawn in the summertime, purchase an inexpensivespring-loaded timer which attaches directly to your outside faucet. This will prevent overwatering in case you forget to shut off the sprinkler.

Excessive water pressure in your home is harmful to your plumbing system and will cause excessive water usage. Our plumbers can check your home’s pressure, and if necessary, installing pressure reducing valve that will limit the water pressure within your home.

Toilets consume more than 40% of your total water usage. Installation of a new toilet flapper and fill valve will keep your toilet running efficiently. You may also want to consider installing an efficient “low flow” toilet.

Conserve energy by checking the temperature setting on your water heater. It should not be above 120°F or medium setting on older models. If you’re not getting enough hot water at that setting you may need to have us take a look at your water heater to see if it is working properly.

Replacing an old shower head can save up to 7.5 gallons of water per minute without sacrificing full spray action at low or high water pressures.

A dripping faucet can waste as much as 150 gallons of water each day, or 4,500 gallons per month. Repair the faucet to save water and reduce your water bill. Sometimes we will have a client who is getting higher water bills than they should due to an undetected water leak. AttaBoy can do a home plumbing inspection that will find any leaks or other plumbing issues you need to be aware of.
