Don’t Worry About Your Plumbing on Vacation!

I just can’t show this picture enough! It was taken in Michigan, however, could easily be a picture taken in Carmel, Geist, Fishers, Greenwood, Noblesville, Indianapolis, etc.

It is a picture of a garage that had a water line burst while the homeowners were on vacation. After the water line ruptured, unfortunately, temperatures dropped below freezing turning the garage into a frozen nightmare. Not the scene that you want to find returning from a relaxing vacation!

As the holiday season is fast approaching and folks are planning vacations, don’t forget to plan on protecting your home while you are gone by taking the following easy precautions:

Turn off the main water shut-off valve to your home.

Open cabinet doors of all bathroom vanities and kitchen cupboards to allow warm air to heat the pipes under the sink.

Secure windows, crawlspace openings and basement doors to keep the cold away from your water pipes.

Remove hoses from outside hose spigots.

By doing these few things, you will be able to enjoy that well-deserved vacation and not even think about calling a plumber or about AttaBoy Plumbing Company! But you could send us a postcard if you want! 🙂
