Back Up Sump Pumps

Have you ever known someone who didn’t think backing up their computer hard drive was very important until their computer crashed and they lost all of their data? It happened to me once. . . only once! After that I began backing up my computer data regularly so that I would never lose all my valuable files again.

A similar situation we frequently run into as plumbers is when someone who only has one sump pump experiences a flooded basement or crawlspace when that pump fails operate when needed. Many people have become our clients because they called us to install a new backup sump pump system to prevent flooding in the future.

There are two types of backup sump pumps, one that runs on a rechargeable 12 Volt battery and one that is hooked up to your house’s water system and operates with water pressure.

Below are a number of other reasons why your electric sump pump may fail:

  • power failure
  • the pump may be burned out, unplugged, or jammed with mud or a stone
  • a broken impeller or drive shaft
  • the float switch is stuck or broken
  • a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse, or damaged power feed line
  • too much water or a clogged intake screen
  • a clogged or frozen discharge pipe

If you want to avoid the inconvenience and expense of a flooded basement due to sump pump failure, just give your Fishers AttaBoy Plumbing Company a call at 317)863.3999. We will be happy to help you decide what type of system would best fit your needs and budget.
